The Giant Kendal – Castle Sportive, Sunday 3rd June, 2018

Join us at the majestic Lowther Castle, near Penrith, for a ride around some of Cumbria’s best and quietest roads, with views that will distract you from the odd cheeky hill and a stunning start and finish to your adventure riding through the impressive castle grounds.

We have two routes for you to choose from, 100km or 50km, both equally spectacular with around 5600ft or 2600ft of ascent. On the longer route we also have a ‘feature’ climb and for those that like a bit of competition this will be a Strava segment with prizes for the fastest man and woman (we might even throw in a few spot prizes too!).  If you prefer a more sociable day out and don’t want to ride on your own there will be a number of groups led by the Giant Kendal Team which anyone is welcome to join.

Maintenance Courses

IMG_0199_USE2IMG_0198_MAIN2We offer a number of maintenance courses throughout the year, typically run mid week on an evening for 1.5 to 2 hrs. Covering basic roadside maintenance to get you out of a pickle if you have a mechanical problem when out riding so you can get yourself home. Including puncture repairs, brake and gear adjustment and chain breakage. We also cover pre ride bike checks to help identify problems before you start out.

Our next event is the Liv Ladies Basic Bike Maintenance course on Wednesday 7th March.  We had a great group of around 20 at the last event in November so for anyone that couldn’t make it or who just wants a refresh then come and join us!  We will take you through the basics and most common bike maintenance issues you might come across and show you how to spot them and sort them so you can get on with just enjoying being out on your bike.  It’s FREE to attend so follow us on Facebook for all the latest details and to sign up for the workshop (please click ‘Going’ on the Facebook event).  For more details or questions email

More dates of future courses will be listed here soon but please contact the shop if you want more details now or to register your interest and we’ll get back to you

Weekly Social Bike Rides

We have a really great bunch of riders who join us every week for some sociable cycling.  We have the hard-core gang who turn up rain or shine, the regulars who might miss a few rides here and there and then some that just make it when they can, but everyone is always welcome and it’s great to see new faces every week.  We ride all year round (yes we keep going through winter!!!) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Wednesday mornings and every first and third Sunday of the month.

 Bike Skills Courses

We hold a number of Skills Courses, some over a series of weekends or a mid-week evening.  Each one varies but usually cover things like cornering, braking, cadence and safety.  Our last course, run through September this year, was a Liv Ladies series of skills nights held across four weeks with the last one also include a maintenance workshop.  We had such a great response but unfortunately weren’t able to fit everyone on the course who signed up, so we are busy planning the next one for early 2018!  More details coming soon, but follow us on Facebook to get the most up to date info.

Future dates for all Skills Courses will be posted here soon, but please contact us if you want further details or to register your interest
